Photographers are among the many vendors who are finding it hard to book clients during the Coronavirus pandemic. With the postponement and cancellations of many 2020 weddings, many vendors have seen a decline in business. But some photographers aren’t taking it lying down and have come up with a great idea to still book photoshoots – Virtual engagement sessions!
Wait, Virtual Engagement Sessions? How?!
Through the wonders of technology (and programs like FaceTime and other video calling software), photographers are booking virtual sessions and books are filling up. You can go online, schedule a time, and your photographer will show up to take photos (virtually, of course!). Sessions can range anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, and your photographer will help you through the whole process.
Why Virtual Sessions?
Do you really want to wait months to be able to do your engagement session? Maybe you want your photos to be taken during the summer season. Maybe you just HAVE to have engagement photos done as soon as possible. Whatever your reason, photographers want to help! Plus, think about how much easier it will be to get comfortable when you’re in your own home and there isn’t someone right in your face with a camera (if you’re not really into that kind of thing). Photographers can capture truly intimate moments between you and your partner, and the photos will seem more real.
So How Do I Prepare for my Session?
Every photographer is different, but some things that we have found that you can do to create a more enjoyable experience include dressing up, using selfie sticks or tripods to get different angles, and just having fun.
Things to Keep in Mind…
Because you’re relying on technology, you need to consider that the photos you receive from a virtual engagement session will be MUCH different than those from an in-person session. Some other things to consider include:
- The quality is not the same as a professional DSLR
- Technology can be fickle so keep in mind that everything from an uncharged battery to low internet connections can change the entire shoot outcome
